The Rotary Club of Westerville, in conjunction with the City of Westerville and in Partnership with Butch Bando’s Fantasy of Lights, will present the Lights of Liberty July 1-5, 2020, at the Westerville Athletic Complex, 325 N. Cleveland Ave.

The drive-through digital light show, a patriotic celebration of the Fourth of July holiday, will be a COVID-conscious, drive-through-only event* that will help our service club raise charitable funds. Attendees will tune into a dedicated radio station and drive in their cars through a digital light show synchronized to music.

*See COVID note below

It will run evenings (approximately 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.) Wednesday, July 1 through Sunday, July 5, in the Cleveland Avenue parking lots of the Athletic Complex – directly across the street from the Westerville Community Center.

We do not anticipate any road closures, but some Cleveland Avenue lane restrictions at the traffic light entrance to the park will be implemented. Special Duty Westerville Police Officers will direct all vehicles exiting the drive-through show to turn south (only) on Cleveland Avenue during the show between approximately 9 p.m. and up until midnight July 1-5. The lane restrictions will conclude completely with the closure of the show at midnight July 5.

THANK YOU to our major sponsors: The City of Westerville, Mount Carmel-St. Ann’s Hospital, 104.9-FM The River, Pinnacle CPA Advisory Group and United Midwest Savings Bank.

Liberty of Lights

The Rotary Club of Westerville for more than 40 years has been staging Westerville’s Independence Day Celebration. In recent years activities have included our morning 5K Walk/Run, our State Street Parade at 1 p.m., our late afternoon Free Concert and Food Truck Festival, and the big Fireworks Show at 10 p.m. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and public gathering restrictions, all of these activities had to be canceled or postponed this year.

The Lights of Liberty show is the one activity we are able to bring to the community during the July 4th holiday this year. It will be a properly socially distanced event and we hope, a wonderful patriotic experience for residents even in these unprecedented times of 2020.

Contactless ticket sales are available through EventBrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/110674729094

Tickets are $10 per car, with no restriction on the number of spectators per car. Buses, limousines, and motorcycles not permitted.

The Rotary Club of Westerville will share proceeds of the event with two charity organizations – Honor Flight Westerville and SEALKIDS.

Please come out to support the Rotary Club of Westerville and celebrate the nation’s birthday by visiting our Lights of Liberty event July 1-5, 2020.
