BOOM! It’s time for our biggest public event of the year, Rotarians – staging Westerville’s Independence Day celebration. Please join us for lunch and our July 4th kickoff program at noon June 2 at the Villa Milano.

July Fourth Chairman Dave Krebs and committee member Dave Read will fill us in on our BIG PLANS for our 2022 Independence Day Celebration.

2022 marks 60 years of our Rotary Club of Westerville’s involvement with staging the community Independence Day celebration. In 1962, the Westerville Jaycees asked for the Rotary Club of Westerville’s assistance in staging the Citywide Westerville Independence Day Celebration, and in 1968, we took over sole responsibility

“Star-spangled and Strong” is the theme for our parade in 2022, chosen by Annehurst Elementary kindergarten student Oscar Oppermann. The State Street parade returns this year after a two-year hiatus, due to COVID restrictions. And we hope you’ve heard — the parade moves to the MORNING this year: It steps off from St. Paul’s at 10:30 a.m. instead of 1 p.m., and again will run south to Electric Avenue.

Of course, our staging of the big celebration for the Westerville community also includes our 5K Walk-Run at 8 a.m., our Free Concert Series and Food Truck Festival from 5-9:45 p.m., and the big Fireworks Display at 10 p.m. As always, Independence Day is an All Hands On Deck event for the club, with all members expected to participate or support our work to stage this celebration for the Westerville community.

The Daves at the kickoff lunch June 2 will tell us about what’s going on this year and where Club members are needed to lend a hand for our “Star Spangled and Strong” celebration.

Please be sure to attend this important meeting about our biggest public event of the year, during our Independence Day kickoff lunch June 2 at the Villa Milano, 1630 Schrock Road.
